Little Animals is a colourful, animated, comedy adventure series, aimed at 3-5 years. The series tracks the adventures of a group of children dressing up as their favourite animals, who in turn inherit the animals behaviours and abilities. Each child has their own unique personalities and special abilities, dependant on which animal they have chosen to be.

The Little Animals work as a team, complimenting and sometimes hindering each other’s desire to answer
questions, complete tasks or understand a new discovery in their fantasy world.

Each episode begins with one or more of the characters encountering a problem which must be solved, the children work as a team contributing aid with their individual and unique abilities, whilst developing their social skills.

Little Animals teaches the viewers that teamwork and working together can be fun and is effective, and that by celebrating their differences they create a wonderful and diverse society.

cast
lion Leonard Lion is the most sensible animal of the bunch. He is an active theorist and will think methodically before carrying out a task, making sure he has every angle covered. He is the older brother figure who the other animals respect while still loving to mimic when his back is turned.

He is brave but measured, he believes he is strong but he is careful. He believes he is the leader and plays this role when he can be accepted as such. He is continually striving to gain respect from the other animals.

monkey

Millie Monkey in contrast to Leonard is a protagonist and the least sensible of the group. She is intrigued by everything
and will act first and think later. She is full of energy and is always the first to try something new.

She can be courageous but her behaviour can be unpredictable and irrational as her world is not governed by the same logic as the other animals. She is the jester of the bunch and is eager to lighten a dull situation.

tutle Toby Turtle is a an eager follower. He plays the role of the little brother who wants to get involved with everything the
others are doing. He is innocently brave but will wait for approval before embarking on a risky task or situation.
He can use his shell for protection, is robust and is not physically affected by his clumsy behaviour. He is willing
to please but is very much in control of his patience.

He is innocent and naive but his single minded nature when it comes to undertaking a task makes him a strong and very indispensable member of any team.

panther Polly Panther thinks fast and acts fast. She is an independent character and will strive to demonstrate her unique way of thinking and working, to help resolve any problem. She is a fast multi-tasker but has an impatient side to her. Her
speed can be useful but her choices tend to be inefficient.

Due to her lack of strength she breaks down tasks into smaller chunks that can be distributed among the bunch to work on together. Her best friend is Toby whom she works together with the best.

kudu Kasey Kudu is sporty, healthy and fit. He will find the most fun and active way to solve any problem. He loves to play and to teach others how a task can be made fun in an active manner. He respects Leonard’s leadership and directs the others towards fun while not upsetting the main objective.

He is helpful and tolerant, realising that not everyone can pick up skills as fast as he can. He is not a show off but can sometimes take the display of his skills to an extreme level.

rhino Rocky Rhino is shy and clumsy but very caring and thoughtful. He prefers to work on tasks alone and his best friends are his toys. He can work alone and behind the scenes creating an integral part in the solution to a particular task or problematic situation.

He is eager to provide the other children with tools and physical solutions to problems. He enters a social situation slowly but is always liked by every other child. He needs to be encouraged to play in a larger group but once playing has lots of fun, even if it is short
lived.

lost horn

RHINO’S MISSING HORN

Rocky Rhino is unhappy, he has lost his horn. Each animal passes and the narrator explains why Rocky is unhappy. Each animal runs away to search for a replacement horn.

Each animal comes back with a suggestion for an alternative horn. Millie Monkey brings a banana, Kasey Kudu brings a carrot, Leonard Lion brings a rocket and Polly Panther brings an ice cream. None of these options please Rocky and all of the animals join him in sulking.

In the distance we hear a trumpet sound, the sound gets louder and Toby Turtle is seen approaching playing.... Rocky’s horn.

Toby places the horn on Rocky’s head and everybody is happy.

Action during end credits :
All of the animals run around happily, with their own version of Rhino’s horn on their head.

karting

KARTING SCHOOL

Millie Monkey, Polly Panther and Toby Turtle are racing around recklessly in their new toy Karts. They are
disturbing the other animals. They scatter Rocky Rhino’s jigsaw, they frighten Leonard Lion while he relaxes reading his book. They knock down Kasey Kudu’s building blocks and it all ends in a 3 way crash.

Leonard offers his help, he suggest that he teaches them some driving theory to understand how to have fun but in a controlled way. They agree, they learn from a whiteboard, they practice what they have learnt and in the end they manage to help the other animals by offering lifts and transporting objects.

Action during end credits :
The 3 drivers race around a track with the other 3 animals playing with their toys in the middle.

hide and seek

HIDE & SEEK

Kasey Kudu is searching for all of the animals, who have started a game of ‘Hide and Seek’. We join Kasey in his
search for his friends. One by one he finds them and they join him, helping him find the remaining animals using their unique skills.

Toby Turtle wins the game and we start again, although this time the narrator asks the audience to help. We count to 10 for Toby and we look for clues to find the animals.

We find all of the animals but when we find Leonard Lion he is asleep. All of the animals surprise Leonard to wake him and dance to celebrate his win.

Action during end credits :
Leonard Lion counts as the
animals begin to hide once more.

summer fair

CARNIVAL FUN

The carnival is in town and the animals are all marching on their way there. When they all arrive, they run towards the closest attraction. They all struggle with their initial choices as they don’t have the best skill to complete each task.

They seem to give up all at the same time. The narrator suggests that they spend a little time carefully choosing
the correct activity to match their skill. The audience participates in suggesting an activity for each animal. The animals try again and are successful and have lots of fun.

Action during end credits :
The animals march back from
the carnival with prizes in their hands and smiles on their faces.

veg patch GROWING UP BIG

Toby Turtle is watering a vegetable patch when Polly Panther joins in, helping to water and tend to the produce in a very quick manner. The remainder of the animals join in. They work together and the produce grows very fast and very big.

The day ends, they leave their vegetable patch and go to bed. The next day they return and some of their vegetables are missing, they count how many are gone and look sad and angry but don’t know where they can be. Leonard Lion sees and smells a trail in the air. They follow the trail. Rocky Rhino has been cooking them a feast for their breakfasts. They all realise he has created something wonderful, they sit down and all enjoy the vegetables.

Action during end credits : The little animals continue gardening their expanding range of vegetables.
